Silence in November Is Not a Decision
No interview invite by late October or November does not mean you are rejected. In the 2026–27 cycle, interviews started in the summer and keep going through the fall. Rolling schools are still inviting in October, November, and December. Some programs interview into February or March.
ADEA set December 15, 2026 as the first day dental schools may notify applicants of acceptance. A quiet inbox before that date is normal for a lot of files. It is not the same thing as a denial.
What it does mean: the schools that interview early have already started filling interview days. Your job is to check that each file is actually complete, and to be ready the week an invite arrives.
Check the File Before You Assume the Worst
An incomplete application is not “under review.” AADSAS usually needs the application, the fee, and official transcripts before a school can evaluate you. Processing often takes about four to six weeks after those pieces are in. A supplemental fee, a letter, or a Casper score can hold a file after AADSAS shows “verified.”
Do this for every school on your list:
- 1Open AADSAS and confirm the status is complete, not missing a transcript or letter.
- 2Open the school’s own portal. Many programs send a supplemental only after verification. If that fee or essay is unpaid, they are not reading you.
- 3Match your DAT date to that school’s score deadline, not to the national cycle close. Creighton wants Fall 2027 DAT scores by November 15, 2026. That date is Creighton’s, not a rule for every school.
- 4If a program’s published deadline has already passed, stop waiting on that one. UAB listed October 31, 2026 as the last day to submit through AADSAS for this cycle.
A short email that asks whether the file is complete is reasonable. An email that asks them to interview you is not.
Deadlines That Still Matter After Halloween
December 1 and December 15 are the dates that sort the rest of this cycle.
| Date | What it is |
|---|---|
| November 15, 2026 | Some schools’ DAT or supplemental cutoff. Creighton uses this date for the DAT. UAB uses it for remaining materials. |
| December 1, 2026 | AADSAS deadline at several programs, including [Buffalo](https://dental.buffalo.edu/education/dds-program1/how-to-apply-dds/adm-timeline-dds.html), [UIC](https://dentistry.uic.edu/programs/doctor-of-dental-medicine-dmd/how-to-apply-to-the-dmd-program/), and Creighton. Also the start of ADEA’s second Academic Update window. |
| December 15, 2026 | First day schools may send acceptance notices. Also Creighton’s supplemental deadline, and UAB’s offer day. |
| February 5, 2027 | AADSAS closes. Submitting that week only helps a school whose own deadline is still open. |
If you still have a school with a December deadline and the file is unfinished, finish it. A polished January draft does not help a December 1 cutoff.
The month-by-month calendar is in the Fall 2027 application timeline. What “too late” actually means is in is it too late to apply for 2027?.
What to Do While You Wait
Use the wait to get interview-ready, not to refresh the portal. An invite can give you one or two weeks. That is enough if the stories are already practiced. It is not enough if you start from zero the night the email arrives.
Spend the time on three things:
- Format. Traditional, panel, and MMI are different. The two-week plan is how to prepare for a dental school interview. Station practice is the MMI guide. The question list is 30 common interview questions.
- One answer you will actually be asked. “Why dentistry?” fails when it is a slogan. The version that holds up is in how to answer why dentistry.
- Academic Update. From December 1, 2026 through February 5, 2027, ADEA opens the second update window. Add a real grade when you have it. Do not enter a guess.
If December 15 arrives and you have interviews but no offer, read Decision Day before you treat silence as a final no. Later interview days still exist. Marquette has published January 2027 dates. UIC interviews run through March 2027.
When a Mock Interview Is the Right Next Step
Practice with a person who will stop you. Reading questions out loud is not an interview. A mock session shows whether you answer the question that was asked, or the question you memorized.
Future Dental Prep’s interview coaching is two hours of 1-on-1 mock sessions, plus a protocol review, for MMI, traditional, panel, and group formats. You can aim the sessions at one school’s format. Schedule a free call if you want those hours before an invite lands, not the day after.
