No — The Cycle Is Open. Your School’s Deadline May Not Be.
It is not too late for every Fall 2027 dental school, and it is already too late for some. ADEA AADSAS for this cycle stays open until February 5, 2027, at 11:59 PM ET. ADEA will not send your file to a school after that school’s own deadline, and those deadlines are often weeks or months earlier.
October is late. ADEA tells applicants to submit in the summer and says processing usually takes about four to six weeks after the application, fee, and official transcripts are in. Applicants who finish in the summer are more likely to be invited to interview. A complete file now is still a real application. A file you “perfect” in January can miss the school you wanted.
The full calendar from the start of the cycle is the Fall 2027 timeline. This page is only the part that is still in front of you.
| Date | What it still controls |
|---|---|
| Now – each school’s deadline | Last day AADSAS can receive your application for that school. 11:59 PM ET on the school’s date. |
| December 1, 2026 – February 5, 2027 | Second Academic Update. Fall grades, if they were listed as planned or in progress. |
| December 15, 2026 | Decision Day. The first date schools may release acceptances. Not the day everyone hears back. |
| February 5, 2027, 11:59 PM ET | Last day to submit AADSAS, add the final Academic Update, request evaluations, and order Professional Transcript Entry. |
| February 10, 2027 | Last day updated transcripts are matched (5 PM ET) and evaluators can submit (11:59 PM ET). |
| February 12, 2027, 11:59 PM ET | Last day an application can be verified. Processing ends. |

If You Have Not Submitted Yet
Open AADSAS and read the deadline on each school before you add it. The cycle close is not the deadline that matters. Two public examples from this cycle, so you can see how far apart they are:
- UAB School of Dentistry says applications received by AADSAS after October 31, 2026 cannot be considered for the incoming class.
- WesternU lists December 1, 2026, at 11:59 PM ET as the close for both the AADSAS primary and its secondary. Materials after that are not processed.
Other schools are earlier or later. The date inside the program’s AADSAS listing is the one that counts. Do not build the list from a forum thread.
ADEA also says transcripts and letters should arrive at least four weeks before your earliest school deadline, because a submitted application still has to become Complete and then Verified. Once it is Complete, verification can take up to 10 business days. The steps are in how long AADSAS verification takes.
Before you pay, check three things:
- 1The school’s deadline is far enough out that verification can finish. A deadline next week is not a real option if your transcripts are not already there.
- 2The DAT is done, or the official score will exist before that school stops reviewing. Scores take three to four weeks, and a retake requires 60 days between attempts. If the score cannot arrive in time, pick different schools or wait for the next cycle. The retake rules are in should I retake the DAT?.
- 3The school list matches your GPA and score. A late application to only the most selective schools is the combination that usually goes nowhere. Use dental school GPA requirements.
You can still add a school later if its deadline has not passed. You cannot edit most of the application after you submit. Letters that were never requested can still be added if you are under the evaluation limit. Finished sections such as the personal statement stay locked, so fix those before you hit submit.
If You Already Submitted
The first Academic Update window is closed. It ran August 13 – September 29, 2026. The second window opens December 1, 2026 and closes February 5, 2027, at 11:59 PM ET.
Liaison’s Academic Update instructions limit what you can change:
- You can update US and English-Canadian courses you marked planned or in progress, and you can add planned courses for the next term.
- You cannot change a term that is already verified, and you cannot add a term from a past year that you forgot.
- You can update grades once in the period. If fall grades are not final, do not click Submit My Updates yet. You do not get a second pass at those courses.
- You must have at least one program in Verified status by February 5, 2027.
After you submit the update, wait for ADEA’s email that it went through. Then send the new official transcript. Transcripts that arrive before that email do not count for the update and have to be sent again. ADEA must receive them by February 10, 2027. The new coursework is verified in order and can take up to 10 business days. Your status stays Verified while that happens.
Schools decide whether they require the update. If a program asked for fall grades, this window is how they get them inside AADSAS. GPA math for those courses is the same system as the rest of the file: AADSAS Science GPA includes math and statistics.
While you wait, the sections you can still touch are narrower than people expect. You can update contact info, add a school whose deadline is still open, add a new evaluation request under the cap, and add some new supporting-information entries. You cannot rewrite what is already submitted. Anything else goes straight to the school.
Interviews are already happening. If you have one, prepare for the format that school uses. Start with dental school interview questions. If you have not been invited yet, that is common this far from Decision Day. It is not a decision.
What December 15 and February Actually Do
December 15, 2026 is the first day schools may send Fall 2027 acceptances. It is not the day every applicant gets a yes or a no. Offers, waitlists, and silence all continue after it. How to read each one is in Decision Day 2026.
February 5 is the last day to submit, not the last day anyone is admitted. A school can fill its class, keep interviewing, and admit from a waitlist long after AADSAS stops taking new applications. Submitting on February 4 still has to get through verification by February 12, and only if that school’s deadline has not already passed.
If your DAT is not competitive and the only dates left are after a school’s deadline, forcing a 2027 application does not create a seat. The next entry year is Fall 2028, and that application is a different cycle: dental school timeline 2028.
FAQ
Is it too late to apply to dental school for Fall 2027?
Not for the whole cycle. AADSAS remains open until February 5, 2027, at 11:59 PM ET. It is too late for any school whose deadline has passed, and it is tight for a school whose deadline is inside the next four to six weeks if your transcripts are not already in.
When is the last day to submit AADSAS for 2027 entry?
February 5, 2027, at 11:59 PM ET, unless the school’s own deadline is earlier. The school date wins. Updated transcripts must be matched by February 10, 2027, at 5 PM ET.
Can I add my fall grades after I submitted?
Yes, in the second Academic Update, December 1, 2026 through February 5, 2027, if those courses were marked planned or in progress. Wait for the final grade. You only get one update. Send the transcript after ADEA confirms the update, not before.
Is December 15 the last day to hear back?
No. December 15, 2026 is the first day acceptances may go out. Interviews and offers continue after that.
Next Step
Look up the deadline for each school still on your list. Drop any date you cannot meet, and submit the ones you can while the file is complete.
If you want that list checked against your GPA, DAT, and the weeks left, schedule a call.
