AADSAS Application Review

ADEA AADSAS is the application most U.S. dental schools use: your personal statement, experiences, coursework and letters in one place. Below is a free guide to reviewing your own application before you submit, plus a checklist. If you want an expert to go through it, our AADSAS application review starts at $100.

How to review your AADSAS application before you submit

Most weak applications are not missing anything big. They have small problems that add up: vague experiences, inconsistent hours, a statement that repeats the activity list. Go through it in this order.

  1. 1

Check that it is complete and consistent

Hours, dates and titles should match across your experiences, CV and letters. Inconsistent numbers are an easy red flag for a reader.

  2. 2

Make every experience show what you did

Start each description with your role and what you actually did, then one line on what you learned. Cut duties anyone in the same job would list.

  3. 3

Pick your most meaningful experiences carefully

Choose the ones that best show why dentistry and how you work with people. Clinical exposure, service and leadership usually matter most.

  4. 4

Answer the extra essays only when they apply

Disadvantaged status, educational interruption, reapplicant and manual dexterity essays are short and specific. Answer the question asked, with facts.

  5. 5

Read the whole application as one story

Your statement, experiences and letters should point the same way. If a reader finished it, could they say in one sentence who you are?

Before you submit AADSAS

  • Every experience has hours, dates and a clear role
  • Descriptions say what you did, not just the job title
  • Your strongest experiences are marked as most meaningful
  • Extra essays answer only what they ask
  • Coursework matches your transcripts
  • Someone else has read the whole application

What we look for

We read your application the way a committee member does: quickly, looking for consistency, real clinical exposure, evidence that you work well with people, and a clear reason for dentistry. We mark anything that reads as a red flag, point out what is missing, and suggest specific changes. You make the edits in your own words.

“The personal statement express was a lifesaver!!! I wasn't even going to apply this application cycle; however, with a last minute change of plans, I found myself scrambling to get everything finished. I had just written my personal statement, and was about to submit my application, and I was able to get feedback just a few hours after I sent it. The advice was very thorough and helpful! I actually talked with a dental school admissions committee on the phone to receive application feedback, and they said I had one of the best personal statements they had ever seen. Thank you Future Dental Prep!!!”

“I used the Personal Statement Express Overview that is offered by Future Dental Prep because I was finished with writing my personal statement, but I couldn't find the "perfect" final draft. I wanted an honest opinion from someone who didn't know me. Using this service was a wonderful experience! My assigned expert contacted me through email and thoroughly reviewed my personal statement within a day. The review included an overview of each paragraph with comments on the content, ways to improve the structure of the paper and grammatical corrections. In addition, my expert rated my paper out of 10 and wrote a summary of how the paper was put together and his thoughts on enhancement. The courteous feedback and timeliness of service was exactly what I needed to feel confident in my personal statement. It helped me to take what I wrote and make it into a strong, well-structured personal statement that I loved.”

“My experience with Future Dental Prep admissions was great. There was a great communication which allowed making the phone call appointment very easy. The phone call itself was very helpful for me. Before making the phone call, I was very unsure of where I stood regarding which schools I have a chance in being admitted, but my consultant made it very clear for me. He carefully answered all the questions I had and even allowed me to ask questions after the session. Now I feel confident regarding what school I will be applying to.”

Frequently asked questions

Does the Application Critique include editing?

No. The critique is a full review with feedback, a rating out of 10 and a one-hour call. If you want your experiences or statement edited, add the Experience Review or a personal statement package.

How many experiences does the Experience Review cover?

Up to 10 experiences, with three rounds: a first critique, a second round of critique and editing, and a final polish.

Will you write my experience descriptions?

No. We help with ideas, structure and revisions of descriptions you write, so the application stays in your own voice.

When should I get my application reviewed?

Before you submit. AADSAS opens in May, and many dental schools review on a rolling basis, so a reviewed application ready early in the cycle is the goal.
