DAT Organic Chemistry Tutor

Organic chemistry is 30 of the 100 science questions on the DAT, and it causes more stress than any other section. Most of that comes from study method: memorizing long reaction lists that fall apart on unfamiliar questions. A DAT orgo tutor teaches reactions by pattern and mechanism, so you can reason through a question you have not seen before.

What DAT Organic Chemistry covers

  • Mechanisms, including curved arrows
  • Chemical synthesis: one-step, two-step and multi-step
  • Acid-base chemistry
  • Chemical and physical properties, including spectroscopy
  • Structural evaluation: nomenclature, stereochemistry, bonding

Where students lose points

Reaction lists that never stick

We group reactions by what the electrons are doing, so one idea covers many reactions.

Stereochemistry

R/S, chirality and isomers need quick visual habits. We drill them with models and short timed sets.

Synthesis questions

Two-step synthesis is listed in the updated outline. We practice working backwards from the product.

How a DAT Organic Chemistry tutor works with you

  1. 1

    Mechanism first

You learn why a reaction happens before you memorize its reagents.

  2. 2

    Reaction maps

Your tutor builds one-page maps that connect functional groups, so review takes minutes, not hours.

  3. 3

    Mixed practice

Once a topic is solid, it goes into mixed sets so you learn to recognize it without the chapter title.

Tutoring packages

Book hours for Organic Chemistry only, or use them across sections. For one weak section, 4 or 10 hours is usually enough.

4hours

$500$125/hour

Three sessions over about two weeks — try tutoring or lock in one weak section, with study resources included.

10hours

$1,680$168/hour

Great for students who need focused help in one subject after they’ve already started prep.

16hoursMost popular

$2,544$159/hour

Great for students of all types seeking comprehensive tutoring.

20hours

$2,960$148/hour

Great for students who want intensive, targeted help across multiple subjects.

“The Future Dental Prep Tutoring Program and my tutor helped me immensely. My favorite part was the mock interviews, which perfectly simulated the real experience. I am incredibly grateful for the guidance and support that helped me succeed!”

“The personal statement express was a lifesaver!!! I wasn't even going to apply this application cycle; however, with a last minute change of plans, I found myself scrambling to get everything finished. I had just written my personal statement, and was about to submit my application, and I was able to get feedback just a few hours after I sent it. The advice was very thorough and helpful! I actually talked with a dental school admissions committee on the phone to receive application feedback, and they said I had one of the best personal statements they had ever seen. Thank you Future Dental Prep!!!”

“I used the Personal Statement Express Overview that is offered by Future Dental Prep because I was finished with writing my personal statement, but I couldn't find the "perfect" final draft. I wanted an honest opinion from someone who didn't know me. Using this service was a wonderful experience! My assigned expert contacted me through email and thoroughly reviewed my personal statement within a day. The review included an overview of each paragraph with comments on the content, ways to improve the structure of the paper and grammatical corrections. In addition, my expert rated my paper out of 10 and wrote a summary of how the paper was put together and his thoughts on enhancement. The courteous feedback and timeliness of service was exactly what I needed to feel confident in my personal statement. It helped me to take what I wrote and make it into a strong, well-structured personal statement that I loved.”

“My experience with Future Dental Prep admissions was great. There was a great communication which allowed making the phone call appointment very easy. The phone call itself was very helpful for me. Before making the phone call, I was very unsure of where I stood regarding which schools I have a chance in being admitted, but my consultant made it very clear for me. He carefully answered all the questions I had and even allowed me to ask questions after the session. Now I feel confident regarding what school I will be applying to.”

DAT Organic Chemistry tutoring FAQ

Did DAT organic chemistry change in 2026?

The ADA reorganized the organic chemistry outline in April 2026 and says it is not a major content change. It is still 30 questions, with clearer topic names and a longer subtopic list that includes curved arrows and two-step synthesis.

What is the best way to study DAT orgo?

Learn reactions by mechanism and pattern, then practice mixed questions. Memorizing reagent lists alone usually breaks down on unfamiliar questions.

Can I get a tutor for only one DAT section?

Yes. Many students book tutoring for one weak section and study the rest on their own. The 4-hour starter is three sessions over about two weeks and works well for one problem area; 10 hours gives you time to rebuild one subject and check progress on practice tests.
